Cedar Island

Of all the Isles, Cedar remains the closest to its roots as a fishing village.

The privately-owned island has been occupied by lobstermen and their families for many generations.

Cedar got its name from Captain John Smith when he discovered the Isles and noted the few cedar trees located on the island. It is relatively small, measuring one seventh of a mile in diameter.

Cedar is connected to both Smuttynose and Star islands by breakwaters, which help protect Gosport Harbor.
