Tour the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard

  • USS Albacore 569 Submarine Way Portsmouth, NH, 03801 United States (map)

Please join us on a special tour of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard arranged for ISHRA folks and friends. This is a repeat of the tour we offered last fall, which was a big hit.

Date and time:  Tuesday, May 14.   9:30 am - 12:30 pm (approx)

Cost to attend:  Free!

Where to meet:  Parking lot of the USS Albacore (569 Submarine Way, Portsmouth) where the PNSY bus will pick us up and bring us over to the Shipyard.

What will we see?:  We’ll see the Captain’s House, view the prison from the outside, and visit the Heritage Center, including the room where the 1905 treaty was signed to end the Russian-Japanese war.  Unfortunately, this tour is NOT wheelchair accessible and requires climbing a flight of stairs.

How do I register?:  We are limited to 20 seats, so the tour is on a first come first served basis.  You are welcome to invite a companion. PNSY requires this information for each participant 1 week prior to the tour:

  • Your full name

  • Your address

  • Your age

  • And a statement saying that you are a US citizen (tour is only open to US citizens)

*You must show a valid government-issued ID (ie. A driver’s license) on the day of the tour in order to be allowed to enter the shipyard*

To register, email Ellen Koenig (ellen.koenig123@gmail.com) by May 1, including the info listed above.  If we have more people sign up than we can accommodate, we’ll start a waitlist.

Hope you can join us for this special opportunity!
