ISHRA Grant Application Guidelines

The Isles of Shoals Historic and Research Association Grant Program is intended to provide funds for creative projects directly involved with and benefiting the broad mission of ISHRA. This is an opportunity for both individuals and organizations to request funds.

Membership in ISHRA is not required, but ISHRA members will be given a higher priority. Range of grant monies is from $100 to $1,000.  Grants will be awarded for one-time, individual projects.

This grant process is specifically NOT to be used to cover speaker or attendee expenses at conferences or gatherings, nor any travel expenses, as those can be covered through other means.

Grant requests must be specific; “general funding” within a larger project will not be considered.

Applications are received by the Grants Committee (made up of ISHRA board members), but decisions for funding are made by the entire ISHRA Board, and as such, shall be final. All grant applicants will be notified prior to ISHRA’s next scheduled semi-annual meeting. The Committee and Board reserves the right to modify award amounts, request clarification or modification, and to decline funding. The acceptance of a partial award requires compliance with application reporting requests.

Application Deadlines:  There is no deadline.

ISHRA offers a rolling application process that may take two or more months.

 Application Requirements

  • Cover sheet with a maximum 100-word synopsis of request, including contact information.

  • A maximum one-page description of your project, including a timeline, and outline of any specific needs and how those needs will be addressed. This description should address the relationship/relevance to the Isles of Shoals and the mission of ISHRA.

  • A maximum one-page budget /disclosure of how the entire project will be funded, and the specific role/s of ISHRA funds. State what specifically would NOT be accomplished if the grant were not awarded.
