ISHRA September weekend 2011 offers a relaxing weekend on Star Island with the theme "Picture This" .
You are invited to bring your camera, paint set, pen & pencils or simply your eyes to capture the beauty and feed your soul. Along with time for walks and rockers, we are invited to share the lens of some wonderful talent. Friday evening we're invited to share the photographic journey of Todd Gipstein, National Geographic Photographer. He'll cull images from 40 years of photography. An ice cream social will follow so you can get to know fellow conferees. Saturday morning we'll gather with Alex de Steiguer (Photo credit to the right is to Alex), photographer and winter caretaker of Star Island (www.alexdesteiguer.com) and Richard W. Moore, President of the NH Society of Professional Photographers and photographer of " twice seen images", capturing the present and the past in the same frame (www.richardmoorephotography.com). Alex invites conferees to share a photograph or two in the slide show by e-mailing a j-peg of it to alexdes@concentric.net by August 27, 2011. Older photos also welcome. Please tell us about this photo's contribution to time, place, mood and memory... Bring a hand held printed photo for a table display if you are able to transport it on the boat. We'll visit island sites photographed by Alex. There's a tea at three with Celia Thaxter in the Pink Parlor, a re-enactment by Rose Schlegel, Conference Registrar. A traditional candlelight chapel service will be held Saturday evening. Sunday we'll gather to share images, interests, stories and memories we've gathered before returning on the Thomas Laighton to the mainland.
