2027 dates will be Thursday, April 22 and Thursday, September 23. Please note that only those with a Real ID or valid US passport can join the tour. In addition, you are required to fill out a form to be submitted to the Navy for review to gain security clearance.

Have you ever wanted to tour the inside of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard? We see so much of it from Portsmouth and Kittery and from the Piscataqua River, but the only way to see inside as non-personnel is with a special tour.
ISHRA has arranged for two tours of the Shipyard in 2027, with the official Shipyard historian, Joseph Gluckert. We’ll view the historical homes, the treaty signing room where the 1905 Russian-Japanese War ended. We’ll also get a closeup of the exterior of the Naval Prison and spend some time at the Shipyard Heritage Museum.
Per Shipyard regulations, this tour is only open to US Citizens. All attendees must show a valid picture ID (driver’s license or valid US passport) on the day of the tour and must complete paperwork one month prior to gain security clearance.
Here’s the lineup for 2027:
Dates: Thursday, April 22 & Thursday, September 23
Time: 10 am – 1 pm. (approximate)
Location: Attendees meet at a Portsmouth Location to board a bus to the shipyard. All attendees must show a valid picture ID at this time.
Accessibility: Unfortunately, this tour is not accessible, and involves several steps getting onto the bus, as well as climbing a set of stairs to the Treaty Room (although this can be skipped).
